Lu Weibing said that for 12GB RAM and 15GB flash memory, it is spending 1500 yuan (about 20 thousand rupees) more. This increased price is said to be from the last quarter of 2025. This means that all the upcoming smartphones of the company will be launched at a much higher price. Not only this, this price is even higher for 16GB RAM and 1TB storage. The company has admitted that prices have increased more than anticipated. Due to this, the company has increased the list price of its upcoming Redmi K90 Pro Max, Redmi Turbo 5 and Redmi Turbo 5 Max in China.

It is difficult to say how long the DRAM crisis will last. Some experts believe that prices will start falling from 2028. But in many reports this relief does not seem to be available till 2030. Due to the expansion of AI, the world’s big tech players are continuously increasing the demand for chips. AI is yet to be widely expanded due to which this crisis may deepen in the future.
