'Peddi', As Ram Charan Allegedly Got 'Upset' Over Janhvi's Sexualisation, Director Made Big Move

Tollywood star, Ram Charan is back with yet another blockbuster. His latest movie, Peddi, which was released on June 4, 2026, has created a storm at the global box office. The biographical film features Ram Charan and Janhvi Kapoor as the leads. Although many enjoyed the movie as a fictional take on the real-life inspiring figure, Pehli Pehli, many others criticised the over-sexualisation of Janhvi. According to recent reports, Janhvi herself, as well as her on-screen romantic interest, Ram Charan, declined several provocative shots of her. Amid the controversy, director, Buchi Babu Sana made a big move.

Peddi‘s director responded to backlash surrounding Janhvi Kapoor with a major move

Peddi director, Buchi Babu Sana took note of concerns regarding some scenes featuring the 29-year-old, Janhvi Kapoor. He addressed the accusations of oversexualising and objectifying the actress in the role of ‘Achiyyamma’ and took the necessary steps. Buchi didn’t shy away from addressing the issue and taking the necessary steps to improve the situation. He then put the audience and the actors at ease by sharing his big decision. The director confirmed that Janhvi’s controversial scenes will be edited out of the film due to the massive audience backlash. He was quoted as saying:

“After reviewing the feedback, we have decided to make changes to the concerned portions. Cinema grows through its connection with audiences, and as storytellers, we have a responsibility to be mindful of evolving perspectives and sensitivities. Every woman deserves to be respected, valued, and represented with dignity. We remain committed to telling stories that celebrate strong characters and uphold those values.”

Buchi Babu Sana reiterated his respect for all actors, especially women, and clarified that his motive wasn’t to make anyone uncomfortable. He mentioned storytellers “have a responsibility to be mindful of evolving perspectives and sensitivities”, which is why he decided to honour the audience’s response towards Janhvi Kapoor’s debatable scenes. He thanked the public for sharing their views “honestly and sincerely.” Buchi Babu Sana’s exact words were:

“I have always had immense respect for women, both on and off screen, and it was never our intention to objectify or disrespect any female character. If any part of the film has been perceived that way, we respect those sentiments, understand the concerns being raised, and sincerely apologise.”

Ram Charan was allegedly ‘upset’ over Janhvi Kapoor’s controversial scenes

Recently, Janhvi’s fan clubs shared several screenshots and text messages, claiming they were the actress’s chats. According to the surfaced chats, Janhvi repeatedly objected to the way some scenes featuring her character were being filmed. In one viral screenshot, which dates back to October 30, 2025, Janhvi claimed that she had clearly told some of the camera operators not to use certain camera angles while filming. She wrote, “I told him no boob and waist shots.”

As per the text exchange, Jahnvi even admitted that her co-star, Ram Charan got “upset” and intervened on her behalf. He allegedly asked them not to film Janhvi from such angles. In another part of the conversation, the Bollywood actress seemed to address what might be the actual issue happening in the industry. She wrote, “It keeps happening in the south.” However, she was glad Ram Charan took her stand. Called him a “sweet” person, she allegedly stated:

“And Ram sir is so sweet, he also yelled at him and said you will not take such angles of her ever again. So he got upset.”
