Brett Goldstein admits to writing Office Romance specially for Jennifer Lopez

Now that the movie, Office Romance is set to premiere in a few hours, an old statement of Brett Goldstein has resurfaced, in which the actor and writer confessed that he and Joe Kelly wrote the upcoming film specifically for Jennifer Lopez. He stated that doing a rom-com film with Jennifer was his dream, so he wrote Office Romance without thinking of the future. He shared:

“We felt like we hadn’t seen a great one (rom-com film) in a long time. We were both like, ‘Who’s your dream person to make a rom-com with?’ Without hesitation, we were both like, ‘J.Lo, because she’s the best rom-com actor.’ So we decided to write one for her.”

Further, Brett Goldstein mentioned that after completing the script, they decided to send it to Jennifer Lopez to try their luck. Along with the script, Brett revealed that he also penned a small note, in which he stated that there is no pressure to make this film; however, he wanted to share the script once. Brett also confessed that he would not have made Office Romance if Jennifer had refused. In his words:

“We thought this was never going to happen. We had never met Jennifer — as far as I was concerned, she was a mythical creature. But we could write it as a dream. So we sent it to her with a note that said, ‘We wrote this for you. You’re at the top of our list. It’s a list of one. If you don’t do this, we’re not going to make this film, but no pressure. Hope you enjoy it!’”

During the same conversation, Jennifer Lopez also shared her side of the story and revealed that she was pleasantly surprised after knowing that Brett wrote the film only for her. She stated that she had been a fan of Brett’s show, Ted Lasso since long and loved his character, ‘Roy Kent’, so she already had a soft corner for him. Calling it ‘great’, Jennifer Lopez was quoted as saying:

“I was a fan of his. People know that I’m obsessed with Ted Lasso. When he sent the script, I was just like, ‘They wrote this for me?’ It was great.”

Since the past few months, Jennifer and Brett have been sparking dating rumours due to their sizzling chemistry and strong bond. However, recently, they appeared on the Today show, where they had a conversation with Savannah Guthrie. During the same, Jennifer Lopez denied dating her co-actor and stated that people link her to everyone she is spotted with. She explained, “There’s never a time when I’m seen with somebody or working with somebody where they don’t try to put me with the person. Because all these people that they put me, I think I was with Kevin Costner this year. I was with … there was a lot of people. It happens all the time. Doesn’t make it true.”
