However, the director, Ol Parker, revealed that one of the biggest challenges in the movie was to make the attraction look very realistic. Director, Ol Parker did agree that Brett did look less in front of Jennifer and in an interview with USA TODAY, he shared:
“She’s a megastar. She explodes off the screen, and also in life, she’s a larger-than-life figure. So the men, quite often, that she’s cast with are sort of slightly lesser than her. And Brett is phenomenally successful in his own right, but there’s only one J.Lo. So one of the challenges for all of us was to sort of put Brett on an equal footing to make them into a pairing rather than just a mismatched couple.”
Brett Goldstein wrote Office Romance with Jennifer Lopez in mind, as she has been the best romantic-comedy actress. Jennifer revealed that she signed up for the movie because the script was a little different from the other romantic comedies she had made, which have been very sweet and wholesome, according to the production notes.

She revealed that when one is looking into a romantic comedy to act in, one wants something that gives a different story, that gives one a different role to kind of play. Jennifer shared that playing that girl many times, but Office Romance made her do something different.
