The American actress and producer Sharon Stone is known for the roles that earned her the title of 1990s sex symbol. He is known for her roles in films such as Total Recall and Basic Instinct. While her professional life has been known to all, she has faced the traumas of her married life. Sharon divorced her husband after he showed the most inhumane gesture towards her after finding out about her breast cancer.
Sharon Stone revealed she divorced her ex-husband due to his reaction to her breast cancer diagnosis
Recently, Sharon Stone recalled the toughest phase of her life and how it ended her marriage. Sharon sahred on David Begnaud’s podcast, The Person Who Believed In Me, about the time when she was diagnosed with breast cancer in the early 2000. She shared that her doctors had come to her home and told her about the breast cancer daignosis.
However, Sharon believed that the tumours in her breast were not cancer but doctors told her not to take risk as it was serious. So, to protect herself, she had to undergo a double mastectomy rather than wait and she what could lead to it. Sharon also revealed how the revelation about her health exposed the true face of her relationship with her then-husband, Phil Bronstein.
At a time when a person needs immense support, Sharon was left alone to not just fight the disease but also the wounds of a fallen marriage. The actress revealed that her husband had the most insensitive reaction. However, she had not taken her ex-husband’s name in the entire podcast but her fans guessed it. The Oscar nominee revealed that her husband was upset with the fact that she had to have both of her breasts removed. She was quoted as saying:
“I had breast tumours. One of them was bigger than the size of my entire left breast. The doctor had come out to my house and said, ‘Look, we think you should have a bilateral mastectomy. This is really bad.’ And we usually when they’re all the way up, we know we go in that they’re cancer. I said, ‘I don’t have cancer.’ And he said, ‘You don’t get to decide that.’ And I said, ‘I do. I do get to decide that. I’m deciding, but I am deciding that I will have a bilateral because I’m not f***ing around. And my husband said, ‘Wow, this is ridiculous.’ And got up and left the room.”
The host Begnaud asked Stone what was the ridiculous part for her husband, she revealed that she had to undergo bilateral, it made him furious. The host was left surprised as it wasn’t the cancer, which could have killed him, the person was more upset with the fact that she had to remove her breasts. She was quoted as saying:
“That was the end of the marriage. That was it. He was done with me then. It was over. It was just over in the room.”
The actress revealed that doctors were with her in her decision and they told her husband that more women would surive serious health issues if they also took the same approach. That’s when Sharon took the decision of what medical treatment she should be undergoing. In 2021, Sharon shared that when she had gotten her surgery to remove the tumours, the doctors were the one who allegedly gave her the bigger breast implants without her consent.
