WATCH: Ishan Kishan taunts CSK fans with ‘whistle-blowing’ celebrations after SRH qualifies for playoffs

Sunrisers Hyderabad’s Ishan Kishan indulged in a cheeky celebration after his team beat Chennai Super Kings at the MA Chidambaram Stadium on Monday and qualified for the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026 playoffs.

After SRH sealed a five-wicket win, Kishan was seen celebrating with a ‘whistle-blowing’ gesture while facing the home fans and then waived his hand dismissively, as if directing the crowd to go home.

Kishan’s celebration was construed as a taunt to CSK, which is known for its signature ‘Whistle Podu’ anthem, and its fans, who resort to loud whistling, especially during their home matches.

However, the left-hander’s exploits were not only restricted to off-the-field antics. On a tricky surface, Kishan scored a match-winning 47-ball 70 as SRH chased down a 181-run target in 19 overs.

The visitors were also helped by Heinrich Klaasen’s 26-ball 47.

Following its win, SRH sealed its playoffs spot and also helped Gujarat Titans qualify for the last-four stage. Royal Challengers Bengaluru had become the first team to qualify for the playoffs on Sunday, after it beat Punjab Kings.

CSK is locked in a five-way battle for the remaining playoff spot. The other teams in contention are Punjab Kings, Rajasthan Royals, Delhi Capitals and Kolkata Knight Riders.

Mumbai Indians and Lucknow Super Giants have already been eliminated from the tournament.
