Following their marriage in 1991, John Travolta and Kelly Preston had a child named Jett in 1992. Jett died in 2009 and was 16 years old at that time. Notably, he died in the Bahamas after having a seizure and hitting his head in a bathtub. Back in 2019, Kelly also shared a tribute to Jett with a photo posted on her Instagram handle. The black-and-white snap featured Jett with his parents while they kissed him from both sides. Family attorney, Mike Ossi, had initially opened up on how the loss impacted John and said:
“He always said, ‘I’m happy as long as my kids are happy.’ He is heartbroken. To bury your son is the worst thing you can ever do.”

John Travolta and Kelly Preston first met in 1987. The pair had collaborated with each other at that time in a film titled The Experts. Kelly was married to Kevin Gage during that period, and the duo also divorced in 1987. Four years later, in 1991, John proposed to Kelly on New Year’s Eve at the Palace Hotel in Switzerland. Shortly after their engagement, John Travolta and Kelly Preston exchanged vows in 1991. They initially had a private ceremony at the Hotel de Crillon in Paris. However, they tied the knot once again in a separate marriage ceremony, held in Florida.

Kelly Preston passed away in July 2020, and her death was first confirmed by John Travolta on Instagram. A family representative shared a statement with PEOPLE, saying that she was battling breast cancer for two years. The representative said that Kelly never revealed her health issue to anyone and was undergoing treatment in private, while being supported by her friends and family members. The news arrived less than a year after John and Kelly celebrated 28 years of their marriage.
