Alia Bhatt, Bobby Deol and Sharvari Wagh are currently dominating the headlines as the teaser of their upcoming movie, Alpha released a few hours ago. For those who do not know, on June 10, 2026, YRF released the teaser of Alpha, featuring Alia and Bobby. It is worth mentioning that Sharvari was missing from it. However, soon after the teaser was released, multiple fans wondered if Alpha is a remake of the French film, La Femme Nikita. Well, continue reading to know the truth behind it!
What does the teaser of Alpha show?
For those who missed it, the recently released teaser of Alpha features Alia Bhatt and Bobby Deol. Alia is a young woman, who is trained by her mentor and father figure, Bobby Deol. On her 18th birthday, Bobby Deol reveals to her that she will soon be going on her first mission. The teaser then cuts to a montage of action and fierce scenes. The teaser begins with Alia and Bobby sitting in a restaurant. While it appears that they might be celebrating something, it is eventually revealed that Alia is called for a mission briefing.

The restaurant scene sparks debate online
Soon after the teaser was dropped, multiple users pointed out the restaurant scene and shared that the French movie, La Femme Nikita also has a similar scene. In the same, a government agent named ‘Bob’ takes a young girl named ‘Nikita’ to a restaurant; however, at the same place, she is handed over a few weapons that would help her in the next mission. This similarity frustrated fans and felt that Alpha was copied from the French film.

One user commented, “BBNG notes a copied scene from #Alpha Teaser. Operative word is ‘loosely copied’. The opening scene is loosely copied from the scene in Luc Besson’s action classic La Femme Nikita.” Another user penned, “The opening scene is copied 90% from the scene in Luc Besson’s action classic La Femme Nikita. The plot is also similar.” A third user, who felt the movie was copied from American Sniper said, “Alpha didn’t copy American Sniper; it just got a little too inspired by it. Maybe YRF should hunt for fresh talent instead of familiar dialogue.”

Have the makers of Alpha revealed the truth behind the similarity?
It is worth mentioning that as of now the makers of the movie, Alpha have not addressed the debate about similarities with the French film. However, in the past few weeks, the actors have often spoken about the film. A few days ago, in an interview, Bobby Deol praised Alia and Sharvari for their fierce action. Apart from that, recently, in the official press release, the makers described the movie as a true-blue popcorn entertainer that has never happened in cinema before. As per The Hindu, the statement can be read as:
“Alpha is a true-blue popcorn entertainer that is intended to be a celebration of the Alpha attitude of two girls in a never-been-done-before action film fronted by women in cinema.”
