Game of Thrones, an American fantasy drama series, has its own fanbase. It is the first adaptation of the A Song of Ice and Fire franchise, a series of fantasy novels by George R. R. Martin. The series premiered in 2011 and ran for 8 seasons, totalling 73 episodes. The series featured a bunch of famous actors, who did their best to essay their roles on screen, and except for the last season, the rest of the series got a really good response.
As for the last two seasons, rather than being based on Martin’s novel, it was based on the television storyline, and eventually, as an outcome, the criticism was more than the praise. People mainly found the last season to have a rushed pacing and also pointed out the sudden deviations of character development, which didn’t sit well with what the 7 seasons created in people’s minds. Well, among others, Kit Harington had a major role to play in the HBO series, and he actually did pretty amazing with his role. Kit had one of the lead roles, and he was seen as ‘Jon Snow’. Recently, Kit sat for an interview and revealed a secret.

According to Variety, GOT’s Kit Harington recently sat for an interview with his former co-star, Peter Dinklage, for the publication’s Actor on Actor segment. During the conversation, Kit Harington revealed that during the time of season 8’s premiere, he was in rehab. For Kit, it was a weird experience, as he was in rehab, where episode 1 was just airing. Kit said that he was completely isolated and was away from his phone.
This happened back in 2019, when the last season of the HBO series aired. Kit was in rehab for six weeks, as he felt that he needed to get sober, and he actually needed to get his head straight. Kit Harington could be quoted as saying:
“The first thing I did while the show was airing was go to rehab. That was my first port of call. It was a very weird experience, Peter. Like, I decided to go to rehab as episode one was airing. And I was there for six weeks, isolated, without my phone. I needed to go get sober. I needed to get my head on straight.”

There’s no denying the fact that when the final season of a series, which is so well-known, is airing, it’s a peak moment, and every member of that particular project is required to do their best, including press, promotions and events. Kit Harington was no different, and when he decided to actually go to rehab, there was a major pullback as he felt that he had to do a whole lot of work, and he wouldn’t be able to prioritise his health.
Well, he later chose himself over everything and prioritised his health, and even though there was a pullback, he decided to give it a go. Following his stay in rehab, Kit took a long break of one year from his acting career, which eventually helped him to reassess his life and career after spending 10 years playing the role of ‘Jon Snow’. If the reports are to be believed, Kit was being paid around USD 1.1 million to 1.2 million during the last two seasons of the series. Well, Kit, speaking about prioritising his health, said:
“Actually, that was a big pull to not go to rehab was like, ‘Well, wait a minute, there’s loads of press that needs to be done, you need to be front and center. And it was a good decision to go, ‘Do you know what? Actually, I’m checking out. I can’t do this.’”
