A verbal exchange between Shan Masood and Mushfiqur Rahim added more tension to the second Test between Bangladesh and Pakistan in Sylhet on Monday, as the hosts moved closer to a possible series sweep.The incident took place before the start of the 79th over of Bangladesh’s second innings on Day 3 at the Sylhet International Cricket Stadium. Pakistan captain Shan Masood was seen speaking with the umpires and his teammates before play resumed.Bangladesh batsman Mushfiqur Rahim, who was well set at the crease, then asked the Pakistan skipper to “get on with the game”, according to stump mic audio.Rahim’s comment appeared to upset Shan Masood, and the two players were involved in a heated argument in the middle. The exchange also lifted the atmosphere among the crowd in Sylhet during a tense phase of the match.In the match, Mushfiqur Rahim scored his 14th Test century on Day 3 and became the Bangladesh batter with the most hundreds in Test cricket, going past Mominul Haque.Playing his 102nd Test, Rahim reached the hundred with a boundary off the third ball of the 85th over bowled by Mohammad Abbas. His teammates gave him a standing ovation from the dressing room, while the crowd also applauded the landmark.Rahim eventually scored 137 runs in the second innings. During the knock, he also completed 16,000 international runs across formats and became the first Bangladesh cricketer to achieve the milestone. He now has 16,058 international runs.The 39-year-old wicketkeeper-batsman is also Bangladesh’s leading run-scorer in Test cricket with 6763 runs. His innings in Sylhet included 12 fours and one six.Bangladesh has set Pakistan a target of 437 runs in the series-deciding second Test. The hosts are aiming for a 2-0 sweep after winning the opening Test in Dhaka by 104 runs.
