The suspense thriller, Drishyam, starring Mohanlal in the lead role, has returned with a bang. Yes, you read it right. Mohanlal’s much-awaited Drishyam 3 has finally hit the theatres. For the unversed, Drishyam 3 was released worldwide on May 21, 2026. Mohanlal as ‘Georgekutty’ has returned with his family, including wife, ‘Rani’, daughters, ‘Anju’ and ‘Anu’. While Drishyam 3 is reportedly the final chapter of the Drishyam franchise, the open ending hints that something is yet to be unveiled. Amid this, continue reading to know how the film ends.
Plotline of Drishyam 3
The story of Drishyam 3 kicks off with ‘Georgekutty’ and his family. It seems like ‘Georgekutty’, his wife, ‘Rani’ and his daughters, ‘Anju’ and ‘Anu’, have finally moved on from the events of Drishyam and Drishyam 2. For the uninitiated, in Drishyam, ‘Georgekutty’s’ older daughter, ‘Anju’ gets in trouble and ends up killing ‘Varun’, a son of ‘IG Geetha Prabhakar’. However, to save his family, ‘Georgekutty’ buries the body of ‘Varun’. In Drishyam 2, ‘Geetha’ and her husband, ‘Prabhakar’, learn about their son, ‘Varun’s’ death.
But ‘Georgekutty’ has still not revealed what he did with ‘Varun’s’ body. In fact, his family also doesn’t know to what extent he went to save them. In Drishyam 3, ‘Georgekutty’ is a successful producer whose latest film is a massive blockbuster. He wants to marry off his older daughter, ‘Anju’, so that she can move on. ‘George’ also wants the town to stop gossiping about the past incidents. ‘Anju’ no longer suffers from seizures as she had in the past and has finally recovered from her trauma. ‘Anu’ is a grown-up, mature, and independent.
And ‘Rani’ wants to renovate their home as there is no financial crisis. However, on the surface level, everything sounded perfect, but deep down, ‘Georgekutty’ is tense and thinks that if his family one day discovers what he did to save them, they might misunderstand him and consider him a criminal. While ‘Georgekutty’ is constantly worried that someone might discover the truth and reopen the case, he assures his family that the case will never be reopened.
‘Georgekutty’ to face old enemies once again in Drishyam 3 (Spoilers ahead)
While initially everything was going well for ‘Georgekutty’ and his family, the past will once again haunt them. With old enemies joining in, ‘Georgekutty’ will once again need to protect his family and especially his older daughter, ‘Anju’. ‘Varun’s’ parents, ‘IG Geetha Prabhakar’ and ‘Prabhakar’ are still grieving their son’s death. ‘Geetha’ thinks her husband, ‘Prabhakar’, has failed to provide justice to their son.
Suspended police officer, ‘Sahadevan’, who had treated ‘Georgekutty’ and his family very badly in the past, has turned alcoholic and has a strong desire for vengeance. The trio team up with ‘Geetha’s’ friend, ‘Bastian’, who reopened the case in Drishyam 2, and are plotting something bigger this time for ‘Georgekutty’ and his family.
Is ‘Georgekutty’ going to jail and sacrifice himself for his daughter, ‘Anju’? (Spoiler Alert)
To seek revenge, ‘Prabhakar’ plans to trap ‘Georgekutty’s’ older daughter, ‘Anju’, in a crime which she actually did not commit. To make sure ‘Georgekutty’ is unaware of their secret plan, ‘Prabhakar’ and the others keep ‘Georgekutty’ busy with new legal issues connected to the old case involving ‘Varun.’ But to everyone’s surprise, this time also ‘Georgekutty’ outsmarts them as he already knows that they are all set to frame ‘Anju’ in a different crime. So, he changes the fake crime scene and also injures his daughter, ‘Anju’, making her seem like a victim rather than a criminal.
This time also, ‘Georgekutty’ proved the extent to which he can go for his family. But in this process, he is mentally exhausted with this hide-and-seek game. So, he makes a deal with ‘Prabhakar.’ Although ‘Georgekutty’ has proof to expose ‘Prabhakar’, the former said that he is ready to go to jail and accept the punishment for ‘Varun’s’ death, but has one condition. The film ended with ‘Georgekutty’ telling ‘Prabhakar’ that he would go to jail only if his family were finally left alone.
