BMW Motorrad has launched its popular adventure tourer bike F 450 GS in India. The bike is equipped with a 420cc parallel-twin engine with 48hp power. It has been provided with features like ABS Pro and Traction Control for safety. Its starting ex-showroom price is Rs 4.70 lakh, which goes up to Rs 5.30 lakh for the top variant. This new bike will replace the company’s older G 310 GS and is being manufactured at TVS’s Hosur plant. Booking of the bike has started and its delivery to customers will start from June 2026. The BMW F 450 GS has been offered in three variants – Base, Exclusive and GS Trophy. The base and Exclusive variants will be available only in Cosmic Black color, while the top-end GS Trophy variant has been launched in BMW’s classic tricolor (Racing Blue Metallic) paint scheme. Powerful 420cc engine and performance: This adventure bike has a 420cc liquid-cooled, parallel-twin engine. This engine generates power of 48hp (47.5PS) at 8,750rpm and torque of 43Nm at 6,750rpm. It is paired with a 6-speed gearbox. It has the facility of slipper clutch and bi-directional quickshifter. The special thing is that its Trophy variant gets ‘Easy Ride Clutch’ (ERC), which manages the clutch operation automatically. Design and Safety Features The design of the F 450 GS is inspired by the company’s flagship bike R 1300 GS, with signature quad-LED daytime running lamps (DRLs) and X-shaped looks. For safety, it has been provided with features like ABS Pro, Dynamic Brake Control (DBC) and Traction Control. The weight of the bike is 178 kg and it has a fuel tank of 14 liters. Its seat height is 845mm. Smart Features and Connectivity The bike has a 6.5-inch TFT display, which supports smartphone connectivity, navigation and call/SMS alerts. It offers multiple riding modes like Rain, Road and Enduro. The Exclusive and GS Trophy variants also get an additional ‘Enduro Pro’ mode. Apart from this, features like heated grips, adjustable levers and engine drag torque control make it premium. According to the variant, the main difference will be the competition in the market. In the Indian market, BMW F 450 GS will compete directly with Honda NX500. Apart from this, it will also challenge single-cylinder bikes like Royal Enfield Himalayan 450 and KTM 390 Adventure. The company is also offering options of accessories like cross-spoke wheels, different windscreen and luggage system.
