BCCI recognition of Telangana Cricket Association critical to expand sport in state, say representatives

In support of the Telangana Cricket Association’s (TCA) long-standing pursuit of recognition from the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), Chevella MP Konda Vishweshwar Reddy urged cricket stakeholders to turn the campaign for TCA’s Associate Membership into a mass public movement.

Speaking at a round-table conference on Monday, Vishweshwar Reddy emphasized that BCCI recognition for the TCA is essential to expanding the reach of cricket across Telangana’s rural and district regions.

He noted that cricket administration has largely remained concentrated in Hyderabad, limiting opportunities for talented players from other parts of the state.

“The future of Telangana cricket cannot remain hostage to a system that has repeatedly failed to identify and promote talent from every corner of the state. Along with pursuing legal remedies and securing stronger judicial directions, we must build public awareness and collective pressure to ensure justice for Telangana’s cricketers,” he remarked.

Telangana activist Vithal, a host of TCA members, and women cricketers Jhansi Lakshmi, Vinoda, and Prashanthi, along with district representatives and cricket stakeholders from across the state, also took part in the discussions.

Participants stated that granting Associate Membership to TCA would create a dedicated platform for identifying, nurturing and promoting youngsters who currently lack adequate opportunities.
