American devices maker Apple is preparing to enter the segment of foldable smartphones. This smartphone of the company can be called iPhone Fold or iPhone Ultra. This foldable iPhone can also be introduced with Apple’s iPhone series to be launched this year. The market of foldable smartphones has grown rapidly in the last few years.
An article on China’s microblogging platform Weibo Post Tipster Fixed Focus Digital has reported that 3D printed technology can be used for the hinge of the foldable iPhone. This will minimize the crease on the display of iPhone Fold. Earlier the company has used 3D printed case for Apple Watch. Apart from this, the USB Type-C port of iPhone Air is also made with this technology.
Recently, Chinese smartphone maker Oppo used 3D printed polymer to fill the space below the crease in its new foldable smartphone. The company had said that the crease on the display of Oppo Find N6 appears almost ‘zero’. Dual-layer UTG and UFG glass design can be found in iPhone Fold. In this, the display of this smartphone will be between two thin sheets of glass. An updated hinge design may also be seen in the foldable iPhone. With this, this smartphone can be folded easily and there will be very less creases visible on its display.
The company’s upcoming processor built on 2 nm process can be given in iPhone Fold. Recently it was reported in a media report that Apple Samsung Display can order around 20 million panels for its foldable iPhone. This is indicating strong demand forecast for foldable iPhone. Manufacturing of display for this smartphone can be started in May. The inner screen of iPhone Fold can be 7.58 inches and the outer display can be 5.25 inches. The user interface of this smartphone may look similar to iPad when unfolded. On opening this smartphone, two apps will be able to run side by side simultaneously on its display. In current iPhones, users cannot run two apps simultaneously on the display.
