Jennifer Winget is the most famous face of Indian television. She is known for playing some notable roles, such as ‘Maya’ and ‘Zoya’. These characters have starkly opposite natures, and Jennifer beautifully portrayed these popular characters. While her professional life has only seen ups, her personal life has not been smooth, especially her first marriage to Karan Singh Grover.
Why did Jennifer Winger and Karan Singh Grover divorce?
For those who don’t know, Jennifer and Karan crossed paths while working on the show, Dill Mill Gayye, as the title suggests, the two fell in love while portraying the love interests on-screen. However, within a few years, the couple got married in the summer of 2012, and it was no less than a fairytale white wedding. Jennifer was dressed up in a gorgeous white-hued gown while Karan looked handsome in black tuxedo as they took their vows and said ‘I Do’.
Those people who have known them as a couple would often reveal that they were inseparable. However, their fiery love story ended on a sour note when they announced their separation in 2014, just two years after their marriage. Over the years, Jennifer made sure never to speak ill of Karan Singh Grover, who shortly after married Bipasha Basu. Years later, Jennifer, in an interview with Bollywood Bubble, added that they had been friends for so long and were like fire every time they met.
She shared that they were just not ready to keep the relationship. Jennifer stated that it wasn’t just Karan or her who was responsible for ending the relationship. Neither of them was ready to mend the marriage. She stated that they had been friends for so long, and it was just a matter of wrong timing. She revealed:
“I think both of us were not ready. It’s not just him (Karan Singh Grover) or it’s not just me, both of us weren’t ready to take that step. We had been friends for so long. We were like a house on fire every time we met. But I think it was an unfortunate timing I guess.”

In the same interview, Jennifer revealed that people told her that she was mad to marry at a young age. But she wanted to, and even if God had told her not to get married, she wouldn’t have listened to him, as if she felt it was the right thing to do back then. She said:
“Everyone was like are you mad? What are you doing? Everyone said that, but at that point, even if God would have told me na that don’t do it, I had been like no, but I want to. That’s the thing, if I have to do something, I want to do something, I will do it and that’s what I wanted to do, and it felt right then.”
Bipasha Basu was called the ‘other woman’ in Karan Singh Grover’s life
However, when news of Karan and Jennifer’s marital life hitting rock bottom made headlines, people pointed fingers at the actor’s closeness with Bipasha Basu on the sets of their film, Alone. People claimed that Karan and Bipasha became friends while shooting, and they even went on a dinner date without their then-partners, Harman Baweja and Jennifer Winget.
Not only this, but on another occasion, Bipasha was spotted out of a movie theatre with Karan Singh Grover, which further intensified the speculations. Karan went on to marry Bipasha Basu in 2016, and they welcomed their first child in November 2022
