Victor Udoh was a famous soccer player, who made his name in his early 20s. As per reports, the 21-year-old footballer was found dead in Abuja, Nigeria. His passing comes as a shock, as reports claimed that he was out and about just the night before partying with his friends. 

Victor Udoh’s death

Victor Udoh played as a forward player of Royal Antwerp before getting drafted to Southampton in January 2025. He was born on October 18, 2004, in Akwa Ibom State, Nigeria. He was famous for his 12 goals at Young Reds Antwerp in 21 appearances. At 19, he had an impressive match in the Belgian Pro League. He was mainly featured in U21 squads and Southampton FC, followed by joining the Czech club Dynamo Ceske Budejovice. He had signed a contract with the club until 2028. 

After his sudden death, Royal Antwerp released a statement. They expressed their dismay at the passing of their former player. He arrived at the Bosuil in the 2023/2024 season. They revealed that Victor had played 28 times for them. The statement can be read as:

“With great dismay, RAFC has learned of the passing of former player Victor Udoh. Victor arrived at the Bosuil in the 2023/2024 season, where in his first season with the Young Reds he managed to score twelve times in 21 matches. That season, he also made his official debut for the first team in the home match against Charleroi. In total, Victor appeared officially 28 times for The Great Old and provided two assists, before making the move to Southampton. Our thoughts are with Victor’s family, friends, and loved ones. We wish them much strength, support, and warmth during this particularly difficult time. Rest in peace, Victor.”

As per reports, the young Nigerian footballer died in Abuja on May 24, 2026. He was on a holiday in his home country and was having a fun time with his friends when he was discovered dead the following morning. While more details about the death are not yet revealed, early reports suggest that suspected food or alcohol poisoning may be the cause behind his untimely, tragic death. Authorities have not yet issued an official statement regarding the exact cause of death. Victor’s death has sent shockwaves across the football world. And people are sharing their tributes for the star who died at a young age. Southhampton football club wrote:

“We are devastated by the tragic passing of former player Victor Udoh at the age of 21. The thoughts of everyone at #SaintsFC go out to Victor’s loved ones at this extremely difficult time.”

Fans shared their condolences on X. One user wrote, “How can a promising star like this die of a food poisoning…. this is heartbreaking and I hope his Soul rest in Perfect Peace.” Another wrote, “He was allegedly poisoned while on holiday in Nigeria. A very tragic end!” A third user commented, “RIP Victor, may you rest in peace, young lad, a young talent gone too soon. My heart goes out to his family.” A fourth netizen penned, “I travelled to Nigeria and, as much as I needed friends around me, I fought that feeling of nostalgia. I was better off without it because of cases like this; no one is really happy for you like they say. May he rest in peace.”


Victor Udoh had proposed to his girlfriend just a month ago

As per Victor’s Instagram account, he had proposed to his girlfriend just a month ago before his death. His Instagram post dated April 17, 2026, showed how he planned a lavish proposal night for his ladylove. He showed up with a rose bouquet, and his girlfriend arrived dressed in a beautiful red dress. He popped the marriage question with a beautiful diamond ring.
