Vaibhav Sooryavanshi falls three runs short of fastest IPL century vs SRH in Eliminator

Vaibhav Sooryavanshi fell just short of the fastest IPL century in his maiden appearance in an IPL 2026 Playoff match against Sunrisers Hyderabad in New Chandigarh on May 27.

Sooryavanshi fell for 97 in 29 balls. If he had reached a ton, it would have been one ball faster than Chris Gayle’s 30-ball century for Royal Challengers Bengaluru against Pune Warriors India in 2013.

He was ultimately dismissed caught at third man off the bowling of Praful Hinge. His innings contained five fours and 12 sixes.

He also moved past Chris Gayle’s record for the most sixes in an IPL season. Gayle hit 59 in the 2012 season, and Sooryavanshi has now hit 65 in 2026.

He still has the second and third-fastest tons in IPL history.
