Because of this, it has become difficult for big smartphone companies like Samsung to compete with the feature of high battery capacity.

Silicon-carbon batteries can store more energy than graphite-based lithium-ion batteries. This allows smartphone companies to provide more battery capacity without making the device heavier. However, this report says that the battery prototypes that Samsung is testing are not able to meet the company’s battery life target. Samsung is targeting about 1,500 charging cycles for the battery, but these prototypes are reaching about 960 charging cycles. For the last few years, the company has provided 5,000 mAh battery in its Samsung Galaxy S Ultra models. This report states that silicon-carbon battery can be introduced with the upcoming Samsung Galaxy S27 Ultra. This may create a trend of using higher capacity batteries in Samsung’s premium smartphones.

Chinese smartphone maker Honor has introduced smartphones with higher battery capacity. Recently Honor Power 2 was launched with a 10,080 mAh battery. The company plans to launch a smartphone with even higher battery capacity soon. Recently a tipster had said that Honor has started trial production of a new battery with a rated capacity of 10,690 mAh. The normal capacity of this battery will be 11,000 mAh. This will be among the highest capacity batteries used in any smartphone. This battery can be used in Honor Power series smartphones.
