Samsung Galaxy phones support satellite communication apps WhatsApp

Many popular apps will run even without internet on some selected smartphones of Samsung Galaxy series. These apps are said to be Satellite-Ready Apps which will run even without mobile internet. Like Apple, Samsung is following a new path in comparison to the satellite communication feature.

Samsung Galaxy Now apps will run on smartphones even without mobile internet, which also includes popular apps like WhatsApp. @theoneacid on X has revealed in a post that the company’s Galaxy smartphones come with Satellite-Ready Apps which do not require mobile internet. The company has partnered with mobile network operators for this. For example, AT&T, Verizon, and T-Mobile in North America, MasOrange, Virgin Media 02 in Europe, Docomo, KDDI, Rakuten Mobile in Japan, etc. Similarly, the company has partnered with mobile operators in different markets.

While Apple depends on satellite internet companies like SpaceX’s Starlink, Samsung depends on local telecommunicators. A big difference here is that in some countries, satellite connectivity provides only emergency services in which calls, messages or SMS services are available. At the same time, Samsung’s Galaxy phones also allow running many apps.
