
Indian cricketer, Smriti Mandhana, and music composer, Palaash Muchhal’s wedding, scheduled for November 23, 2025, was “indefinitely postponed” just hours before the grand ceremony. And after intense speculations of cheating, the wedding was called off, further confirming the allegations against Muchhal. For the unversed, back in November 2025, Muchhal was accused of being unfaithful to the Indian cricketer. However, now he is once again back in the headlines, and this time it isn’t for a good cause. The music composer has landed himself in legal trouble after a childhood friend of Smriti made some serious accusations against him.

Almost six months after his wedding to the Indian cricketer, Smriti Mandhana was cancelled, Palaash Muchhal has once again landed himself in some trouble, and this time with the law. According to reports, a case has been registered against the music composer for allegedly making casteist remarks against Smriti’s childhood friend from Sangli. A report by TV9 Marathi has claimed that the case has been registered against Muchhal under provisions of the Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes (Prevention of Atrocities) Act. The complaint was filed by Vigyan Prakash Mane, a resident of Sangli and a childhood friend of Muchhal’s ex-fiancee, Smriti.

According to reports, the complaint alleges that the incident occurred on November 22, 2025, at a toll plaza on the Sangli-Ashta road. In the complaint, Vigyan Prakash Mane has claimed that during an argument, Muchhal made a caste-based derogatory remark, which didn’t sit well with Mane. The police registered the case under Section 3(1) of the SC/ST (Prevention of Atrocities) Act, along with Sections 351(2) and 352, and the investigation is currently underway. It was further reported that the matter stems from a financial dispute where Muchhal allegedly borrowed Rs. 25 lakh from Mane.

According to the report by TV9 Marathi, the clash between Vigyan Prakash Mane and Palaash Muchhal stems from a financial dispute. The police have reflected on the same and shared that Muchhal reportedly borrowed Rs. 25 lakh from Mane for a film production project. However, when Mane later approached him to recover the amount, things went in a completely different direction. It is reported that the confrontation in which the casteist remark was made occurred when Mane brought up the issue again, asking Muchhal to pay him back, leading to an argument between the two.

Vigyan Prakash Mane spoke to the media about the case and shared his version of events. Mane claimed that Palaash Muchhal took him into confidence and took a massive amount of Rs. 25 lakh from him to produce the film. However, when he reached out to Muchhal for the repayment, he started avoiding Mane. He was quoted as saying:
“He had promised me to complete the film in 6 months. However, he turned out to be a fraud. When I demanded my money back, he avoided giving it. When I went to meet him, he abused me by using casteist remarks; I can’t even use them on camera. His mindset is very dirty.”

Palaash Muchhal and Smriti Mandhana were set to tie the knot on November 23, 2025. However, what appeared to be their happily ever after came crashing down when the celebrations were abruptly put on hold due to a medical emergency involving Smriti’s father. Nonetheless, concern grew further when Muchhal was also admitted to a hospital in Mumbai. Following this, the rumour mill has exploded, with some even alleging that Muchhal cheated on Mandhana. While neither confirmed nor denied the rumours, the wedding was eventually called off.
