Karoline Leavitt has announced the birth of her second child via Instagram. She shared the happy news with her followers while on maternity leave from the White House. The 28-year-old press secretary revealed that she and her husband, Nicholas Riccio, welcomed a baby girl on May 1, 2026. In turn, their supporters and political colleagues immediately sent their best wishes to the couple.

Karoline Leavitt shared the heartwarming news through her Instagram handle. She shared a snap of herself gently holding her newborn baby girl. Along with the post, she penned an emotional message about the new addition to their family. The 28-year-old also updated that her baby girl is healthy. On the other hand, her elder son, Nicholas “Niko”, is adjusting to his new life as a big brother. In her words:
“On May 1, Viviana, aka ‘Vivi’, joined our family, and our hearts instantly exploded with love. She is perfect and healthy, and her big brother is joyfully adjusting to life with his new baby sister. We are enjoying every moment in our blissful newborn bubble.”
Meanwhile, Niko will turn two in July 2026. For those unaware, the White House press secretary had stepped away from her official duties in April 2026 for her maternity leave. However, she had to return to work for a while after a shootout at the White House Correspondents’ Dinner on April 24, 2026. Later, she updated reporters on the situation before leaving.
Meanwhile, as she remains on leave, several other administration officials have stepped in to brief the press during her absence. In fact, Marco Rubio held a White House briefing and joked about managing the press room as “chaos”. Notably, the 28-year-old is the youngest and first actively pregnant White House press secretary to take up regular briefings.
Karoline Leavitt and Nicholas Riccio share a 32-year age gap
Karoline Leavitt has often spoken about her relationship with her husband, Nicholas Riccio. She called it an “atypical” love story. They first met in 2022 when Karoline was campaigning for Congress in New Hampshire. She revealed that a mutual friend introduced them. After becoming friends, they soon fell in love. However, the couple’s 32-year age gap created problems for them. Karoline is 28, while Nicholas is 60. She previously confessed that it was not easy for her to introduce him to her father at home, as Nicholas’ age is close to her father’s.
But eventually, her family accepted him and witnessed her support and respect for Karoline. In turn, she calls him her “rock”. They got engaged in December 2023 at a beach proposal and soon tied the knot in January 2025 at the Wentworth By the Sea Country Club. The celebration was held a few days after Donald Trump was inaugurated to a second term. Earlier, they welcomed a son, Niko and now a newborn daughter.
