Vaibhav Sooryavanshi’s pull shot over deep mid wicket in the 11th over off Prince Yadav’s bowling was the teenager’s 50th maximum of the Indian Premier League (IPL) season.
The RR opener is now just seven sixes away from breaking the record for the most sixes hit by a player across an IPL season.
West Indian Chris Gayle currently holds the record with 59 sixes, a feat he achieved in the 2012 season for Royal Challengers Bengaluru.
Sooryavanshi, who was dismissed for 93 off 38 balls, hit 10 sixes in his innings against LSG today. The 15-year-old has now hit 53 sixes this season, already breaking Andre Russell’s record for the second most number of sixes hit across a season (52).
The teenage sensation has already broken the record for the most sixes hit by an Indian in a season, previously held by Abhishek Sharma when the SRH opener hit 42 sixes in the 2024 season.
