IPL 2026: Vaibhav Sooryavanshi named Most Valuable Player of the tournament

Rajasthan Royals’ 15-year-old opener Vaibhav Sooryavanshi was named as Most Valuable Player for IPL 2026 at the conclusion of the season.

Sooryavanshi scored 776 runs at an average of 48.50 and an astonishing strike-rate of 237.31 to lead Rajasthan Royals to Qualifier 2. He also scored five fifties and one century.

“I just wanted to back my game. If I felt I could hit the first ball, I would go all out, this is how I played.” he told broadcasters after receiving the award.

At 15 years and 65 days, the Rajasthan Royals batsman is the youngest to claim the honour.

During the season, Sooryavanshi also completed 1000 IPL runs in just his 23rd innings, becoming the fastest Indian to reach the milestone.

He also broke Chris Gayle’s long-standing record for the most sixes in an IPL season, smashing 72 maximums.
