IPL 2026: Pathirana ruled out, Kolkata Knight Riders signs Luvnith Sisodia

Kolkata Knight Riders fast bowler Matheesha Pathirana was ruled out of the IPL 2026 due to an injury on Sunday.

The Sri Lanka pacer could not continue for the remainder of the season owing to a hamstring injury.

KKR replaced the quick with wicketkeeper-batter Luvnith Sisodia, who joins the squad for his base price Rs. 30 lakhs.

Pathirana only bowled nine deliveries in the season. He joined the squad late after getting No Objection Certificate (NOC) from Sri Lanka Cricket.

He made his KKR debut against Gujarat Titans and went off the field during his second over due to the similar hamstring issue that ruled him out of the T20 World Cup in February earlier this year.

His replacement, Sisodia, was previously a part of Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) and KKR in the IPL. Sisodia, who represents Karnataka, has played 15 T20s and has 124 runs against his name from the same.

Knight Riders will play their last league game in the night against Delhi Capitals at the Eden Gardens. Their qualification will depend on the result of Mumbai Indians vs Rajasthan Royals match in the afternoon.
