India Squad for Afghanistan Test: Gurnoor, Suthar and Harsh get maiden call-ups—Full list of players announced

The BCCI on Tuesday announced a 14-member Indian squad for the one-off Test match against Afghanistan, which will be held from June 6-10 in New Chandigarh.

Rajasthan spin-bowling all-rounder Manav Suthar, Vidarbha white-ball captain Harsh Dubey and Punjab fast bowler Gurnoor Brar received their maiden Test call-ups following impressive performances on the domestic circuit. Both Brar and Suthar are teammates at Indian Premier League (IPL) franchise Gujarat Titans, while Harsh represents the Sunrisers Hyderabad.

Pace spearhead Jasprit Bumrah was rested for the Test as part of his workload management. Meanwhile, flamboyant wicketkeeper-batter Rishabh Pant was removed as vice-captain of the Test team, with KL Rahul replacing him in the role. The side continues to be led by Shubman Gill.

Among other notable changes, all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja was also rested for the one-off game.
