Parag went on to play for RR in the Eliminator and Qualifier 2 as well, showing discomfort while running between the wickets.
The shoulder issue, Parag indicated in an Instagram post, had been a long-standing one. It is understood that it first surfaced during IPL 2025, and that Parag had been managing it in coordination with the BCCI’s medical staff. While surgery had been listed as an option, doctors had advised Parag that he could delay it until the issue began to affect his game. Parag eventually decided to go under the blade after consulting with the BCCI’s medical team.
“For everyone who’s been asking, the surgery is done and went well,” Parag wrote. “The past two years have tested me in ways I never expected. There were good days, frustrating days, and days when simply getting through a game was a challenge. But I wouldn’t have wanted it any other way.
“Now comes a different challenge- recovery, rehab and patience.
“I’ll be back doing what I love soon. See you on the other side.”
