Online fraud is no longer limited to suspicious emails or fake websites. Nowadays, cyber criminals are targeting people through methods like KYC update messages, fake bank calls, fake job offers, WhatsApp links and credit card upgrades. In many cases people lose their entire savings within a few minutes. In view of such increasing cyber threats, the Government of India is now offering a free online cyber security course, which can be completed in about two and a half hours. The special thing is that a certificate will also be given on completion of the course.
This course has been prepared by the Indian Cyber Crime Coordination Center i.e. I4C working under the Ministry of Home Affairs. The department says that its objective is to make people more secure in the digital world and to teach them to identify cyber fraud. According to the official social media post of CyberDost I4C, this course is available to all including students, professionals, government employees and senior citizens.
Many important subjects have been included in the course. In this, users will be taught things like keeping personal data safe, identifying fake links, avoiding scam calls and using social media and digital payments safely. Apart from this, ways to avoid identity theft, banking fraud and online scams will also be explained.
The government says that cyber criminals are constantly trying to obtain OTP, bank details and card information from people by adopting new methods. In such a situation, digital awareness can become the biggest weapon. According to the ministry, this course focuses on developing safe habits in everyday digital life, so that people can identify small online fraud methods in time.
