Former Indian cricket team all-rounder Yuvraj Singh paid a huge tribute to Dharmendra after the legendary actor died on Monday at the age of 89. Dharmendra, who was earlier admitted to Breach Candy Hospital in South Mumbai, was discharged on November 12 after showing signs of recovery. However, the actor died just a few days after returning home from the hospital. “Every home had a favorite Dharmendra film. He was a part of our growing up and of Indian cinema’s finest years. He brought strength, charm and honesty to every role, and carried Punjab’s warmth wherever he went. Behind the fame was a humble, grounded and deeply human soul. His legacy will live on in the hearts of millions,” he posted on X (formerly known as Twitter).

India’s World Cup-winning all-rounder Deepti Sharma, sharing a picture of the late actor on her Instagram story, wrote, “Dharmendra Ji was not just a film star but a true hero, who made us all believe that you can dream and achieve with love in your heart! We all will miss him! Om Shanti.”

Indian Premier League franchise Punjab Kings, sharing a picture of the veteran actor on in Punjabi, which translates to “Immortal on the screen, and forever immortal in our hearts too!”
Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) shared a picture of Dharmendra and captioned it, “The He-Man of Bollywood,” while the franchise put up another picture of the legendary actor with the team’s co-owners, Bollywood celebrities Shah Rukh Khan and Juhi Chawla, and wrote, “Rest in Peace, Dharmendra ji.”
“Farewell to a legend. Sending our condolences to Dharam Ji’s family, friends and fans across the world,” said Delhi Capitals in their X post.
Born in 1935 in Punjab, Dharmendra began his career in the early 1960s after being discovered through a talent hunt competition. He was a recipient of the Padma Bhushan, India’s third-highest civilian award.
He is survived by his first wife, Prakash Kaur; their four children, Sunny Deol, Bobby Deol, Ajeta Deol, Vijayta Deol; his second wife, Hema Malini; and their two daughters, Esha Deol and Ahana Deol.
