Duck Dynasty star, Alan Robertson and his wife, Lisa Robertson, are making headlines as the couple is set to revisit a painful chapter in their marriage. It is a deeply personal story where the couple will share the story about Lisa’s past extramarital affair and their temporary separation. But the highlight of the story is how faith ultimately helped them save their relationship. In turn, it has become the plot for the upcoming Lifetime film, Faith and Forgiveness: A Duck Dynasty Love Story. Ahead of the film’s release, the duo shared some emotional details from their past struggles.
Alan Robertson and Lisa recall her extramarital affair and reunion
Alan and Lisa Robertson recently sat down for an interview with Fox News Digital, where they shared emotional details about their struggles in marriage. Alan admitted that consistent infidelity usually destroys marriages. But he believes that relationships can survive if both people are willing to confront their mistakes. He recalled that when he initially doubted Lisa’s affair, she refused. But later he found out about the truth from their call records. Recalling his reaction, he said:
“When unfaithfulness happens in a marriage, so many times, that’s the end of it, but it doesn’t have to be. Everything can be worked through. I think for the first few weeks, I was leaning toward thinking that it was probably over. I was just not sure if I could ever fully trust again. [I wasn’t] sure Lisa really wanted to be in our marriage.”

On the other hand, Lisa Robertson also revealed that she had faced molestation as a child at the age of 7. All those unresolved struggles slowly pushed her toward dishonesty and isolation in her marriage. Around the same time, she reconnected with an old boyfriend and eventually started an extramarital relationship. Later, Lisa thought the marriage was over when Alan found out about the truth. However, there was a turning point in her life. Sharing more about it, she said:
“Once I turned my life over to the Lord, out in the backyard, when I finally called out to God, He came and met me there. From that day forward, I think I knew I could make it because I’d never called on Him before.”

After the realization, Lisa worked on herself. She changed the way she dressed, wore makeup, and talked to men. At the same time, she controlled what she said. In turn, Alan could see the changes, and the couple attended counseling to gradually rebuild their trust. Alan trusted his wife’s willingness to confront her mistakes. In the end, the couple renewed their wedding vows in December 1999, and they have been together ever since.

Alan and Lisa Robertson’s long relationship
Alan and Lisa Robertson first met as teenagers in West Monroe, Louisiana. According to the couple, they initially met in a McDonald’s parking lot popular with teenagers at the time. Alan was 17 while Lisa was 15 when they started dating. Eventually, after dating on and off, they got married in 1984. They also welcomed two daughters together. Despite their brief separation in 1999 due to Lisa’s infidelity, they reconciled. Together, the duo traveled across the country sharing their message of faith, forgiveness, and marriage restoration.
