American billionaire, John Alfred Paulson is currently making headlines after settling his long-running divorce battle with ex-wife, Jenica (Jenny) Paulson. It was in 2021 when John filed for a divorce from Jenny after almost 21 years of marriage. However, the duo had been engaged in a legal battle over their massive fortune since then.
John Paulson settles his legal battle with ex-wife, Jenny
Now, after almost five years, John Paulson and his ex-wife, Jenny, have settled their ugly divorce battle. The pair reached an amicable agreement regarding the distribution of their assets and ended the legal battle and related litigation on May 4, 2026. Jenny’s attorney, Robert S. Cohen, and John’s attorney, Marilyn Chinitz, in a joint statement said:
“They consider this settlement a private matter, and neither party nor any family nor friends of the parties will have any further comment.”

John Paulson hands down USD 30 million Upper East mansion to Jenny
Though the settlement is private, as reported, John Paulson has handed over the luxurious Upper East Side mansion valued at USD 30 million. The settlement also includes the dismissal of a USD 1 billion lawsuit Jenny filed against John in 2022, in which she accused him of hiding some of his assets in a trust.

For the unversed, back in 2022, Jenny accused Paul of setting up a “secretive web of trusts” to hide money from her. On the other hand, Paulson denied the accusations levelled against him by Jenny and told the court that the trusts were set up together decades ago to protect their kids.

Why Jenny Paulson felt ‘humiliated’ by her ex-husband’s divorce offer?
After the high-profile separation of John Paulson and his ex-wife, Jenny, the two engaged in an ugly battle over the settlement. In 2024, it was reported that John offered Jenny hundreds of millions in cash in their divorce, but she called it ‘humiliating’. In an email to her billionaire husband in 2022, Jenny reportedly wrote:
“The idea that I should receive less than the children is humiliating and demeaning, because this is the message that it gives to the world and to my own daughters. In my heart and my spirit I feel I deserve a 50/50 split, 60/40 is OK because there have been other similar divorce arrangements.”

Jenny and John’s divorce had created a war of words between their respective attorneys too. While Jenny’s attorney, Cohen, quipped, “The man is worth billions of dollars… and Mr Paulson offered Mrs Paulson only a monthly ‘allowance. That’s called chutzpah – or in English, hypocrisy.” On the other hand, Paul’s attorney, Chinitz, gave a fierce reply to Cohen and said, “In what universe is hundreds of millions in upfront cash, plus annual eight-figure distributions for the rest of her life – all tax free – considered an ‘allowance?’”

Jenny Paulson was clueless about her divorce from John Paulson
It was in September 2021, when John filed for divorce from Jenny citing ‘irreconcilable differences.’ Jenny, on the other hand, claimed to have learned of the divorce from the tabloids rather than from John. A source close to the couple said Jenny never saw it coming and was clueless. She also reportedly learned from a publication’s reports that her estranged husband was dating de Almeida. In 2024, 70-year-old Paulson was reportedly engaged to 35-year-old clinical dietitian Alina de Almeida.
