Citadel Season 2 has left fans with several questions. After an explosive second-season finale, viewers are now curious to know whether the spy thriller will return for a third season. Although Prime Video will take the final decision, the Season finale has confirmed that the story is far from over. Instead, it has pushed the war between the Citadel and Manticore to another level. After shocking losses and expected betrayals, fans are already asking about when Season 3 will arrive.
Will there be a Citadel Season 3?
There is still uncertainty over Citadel Season 3. But the chances for a sequel are strong. According to reports, the makers have not announced either a cancellation or renewal of Citadel 3. However, the show’s large-scale storyline and unfinished war with Manticore hint at a Season 3. Some industry insiders have suggested that the decision would depend heavily on Season 2’s audience numbers and engagement. Since Citadel is one of Prime Video’s most expensive productions, the streaming platform is expected to see if the latest season was successful. If they are satisfied with the results, Season 3 might be on the cards soon.

If the series is renewed for another sequel, fans will still have to wait for a while. Citadel 1 premiered in 2023, while Season 2 arrived three years later in May 2026. If the same production timeline continues, Season 3 might not arrive until 2028 or 2029. For those unaware, the large-scale international filming and expensive visual effects make it one of the longest-running productions on Prime Video.

If it happens, Citadel Season 3 could focus on a larger global war. Season 2 showed that Manticore is not just one organization. Instead, it is backed by several powerful billionaire families worldwide. One of these major figures, ‘Paulo Braga’, dies during the season. But his death only opens the door for more enemies. Meanwhile, ‘Dahlia’ is changing sides, shifting the power balance. So, Season 3 could focus on those remaining Manticore-linked families who are trying to get rid of the surviving Citadel agents.

Another plot could center on hidden ‘Citadel’ agents worldwide. Towards the end of Season 2, ‘Nadia’ hands ‘Bernard’ a list of the remaining agents. It suggests that the network is big. So, the story might introduce more international characters and even connect spin-offs like Citadel: Diana and Citadel: Honey Bunny to the main one.

Citadel Season 2 ending explained (Spoiler Alert)
Citadel Season 2 ended on an unexpected note. The final saw ‘Mason Kane’ and ‘Nadia Sinh’ going on a dangerous mission to stop ‘Joana’ from taking control of global satellite systems. Although they stopped the immediate threat, ‘Mason’ was killed. ‘Abby Conroy’ reportedly killed him under ‘Joana’s mental control. Meanwhile, ‘Bernard’s’ secret agenda about how far he was willing to go to defeat Manticore shocked the viewers. It has not left ‘Nadia’ emotionally drained and ‘Bernard’ with a larger war ahead.

More about Citadel
Joe Russo and Anthony Russo created Citadel. It is one of Prime Video’s biggest franchises. The series stars Priyanka Chopra, Richard Madden, and Stanley Tucci, among others. Given the scale of its global spy universe, the expense of its production, and its expanding storylines, Season 3 might be its biggest chapter yet. However, fans will have to wait for an official confirmation from Prime Video over Citadel Season 3.
