Her name continued to remain closely linked to the death of Spider Sabich, the Olympic skier she fatally shot in Aspen in March 1976. According to reports, Claudine claimed the gun accidentally discharged while Spider was teaching her to use it in the bathroom of their shared Chalet. In turn, he was struck in the abdomen and later died when he was taken to the hospital. In fact, she was convicted of criminally negligent homicide in 1988.
