After growing speculations around Mouni Roy’s personal life, the actress finally came out to publicly address the matter related to her marriage. For a few days, reports were rife that Mouni Roy and her husband, Suraj Nambiar, have parted ways, as the two unfollowed each other on Instagram. Now, Mouni has finally confirmed that they are heading for a divorce.
Mouni Roy confirms separation from Suraj Nambiar
On May 14, 2026, Mouni Roy took to her Instagram handle and shared a picture note. She addressed how a certain section of the media has been sharing false narratives about her and Suraj. She confirmed that she and Suraj have decided to part ways and are taking time to address the matters privately and amicably. She wrote:
“We note with dismay the unnecessary and intrusive attention into our personal lives by certain quarters of the media. We would like to state that we have decided to part ways and are taking the necessary time to address matters privately and amicably. Attempts have been made to sensationalize our private lives by circulation of fictitious narratives and blatant falsehoods, which do not reflect the reality of our relationship.”
Mouni further revealed that due to the evolving personal priorities, the two have mutually chosen to move forward on separate paths with respect and understanding. She added that they want to navigate this phase thoughtfully and privately as they want to cherish the friendship they shared in times to come. She wrote:
“After thoughtful reflection on evolving personal priorities, we have mutually chosen to move forward on separate paths with respect and understanding. At this point, we are focused on navigating this phase thoughtfully and privately. We will endeavour to cherish our friendship in times to come. We sincerely appreciate your understanding, respect for our privacy, and the continued support extended to us during this time. Mouni and Suraj.”
Mouni Roy also tagged her husband, Suraj Nambiar, in the collaborative post and stated that they humbly request everyone to give them privacy and dignity and not give out any false stories about Suraj or her.
Mouni Roy and Suraj Nambiar’s love story
Earlier, in an interview with News18, Mouni talked about her love story and shared that she has been a hard-core romantic person who believed in the beauty of old-school love and for her, writing letters and having long conversations mattered a lot. She revealed that she had known Suraj for five years, and it was not a forced relationship but something that grew organically. She was quoted as saying:
“I am a hard-core romantic person. I believe in old school romance and for me writing letters and having long conversations over the phone is romantic. Suraj and I have known each other for five years and it was very organic with us. It was a typical boy-meets-girl and we realised that we complement each other in many ways.”
Mouni also talked about the temptations in the modern world and relationships. She added that a person should know how to love themselves and then love their partner. She talked about having so many options that people do not give a chance to the relationship to blossom.
In an earlier interview with BollywoodLife, Mouni Roy talked about embracing motherhood. She mentioned that she is busy concentrating on her career as she had quite a few projects lined up in her kitty. On the other hand, Suraj also wished to focus on his career, and motherhood is not in question for her. She further added that none of her family members was pressuring her to start a family.
