The ministry confirmed her death on May 7, 2026, and mentioned how she was privately dealing with her challenges leading to her death. According to a Daystar official statement, Joni had been dealing with major health challenges for some time. But she has chosen to keep her battle private. The network mentioned that although she was managing serious medical issues, a new back injury made her condition worse. In turn, it created more complications that led to a serious media situation in the days leading up to her death. “The back injury compounded those challenges and led to a more serious medical situation than anyone anticipated. Despite the dedicated efforts of her medical team and the prayers of so many around the world, her condition worsened in the last few days.

Daystar confirmed that Joni’s days were all about the rapid increase of her condition. Although her exact medical cause of death is not shared in detail with the public, the ministry confirmed that her back injury played a primary role in increasing her health challenges. The network, in its official statement, shared that Joni faced multiple health battles “head on in private”. She had decided not to make her struggles public. In turn, they called her death “going home to be with the lord”. Honoring her legacy, the network said:
“Joni’s love for the Lord and for the people we serve shaped this ministry from the beginning. We grieve her loss, and we are grateful for the legacy of faith she leaves behind.”

Joni Lamb had a close-knit family
Joni Lamb has left behind a close-knit family with strong connections to Daystar’s ministry. She is survived by her husband, Doug Weiss. The couple tied the knot in 2023. At the same time, she is survived by her three children, Jonathan Lamb, Rachel Lamb Brown, and Rebecca Lamb Weiss.

Before Doug, Joni was married to Marcus Lamb for nearly 40 years. But he passed away in 2021 due to COVID-19-related complications. Since then, her kids have worked closely with the network’s programming, turning it into a family-driven mission. Meanwhile, they have requested privacy and prayers as they mourn Jane’s loss.
