Kumble urges Maharaja Trophy players to uphold legacy of Karnataka cricket

Former India captain Anil Kumble urged cricketers competing in the upcoming Maharaja Trophy KSCA T20 to uphold the proud legacy of Karnataka cricket.

“What is important is to carry the Karnataka flag high. You’re not just representing the franchise, but you’re also representing the State. This State has a wonderful legacy. It is something that is carried with you when you go on to play for the country as well,” Kumble said at the jersey launch event of the Kalyani Bengaluru Blasters franchise here on Friday.

Kumble warned against letting the pressure affect performances on the field even though IPL scouts are bound to take note of good performances in the Maharaja Trophy KSCA T20.

“I don’t want players to feel that they are being watched. The moment you feel that, performances go down. Just go out there, do what you’re capable of, and things will pan out,” Kumble said.

KSCA President Venkatesh Prasad, KSCA Hon. Secretary Santosh Menon, Rohan M. Raju and Priyanka M. Raju, Directors of the Kalyani Group of Companies, A. Venkateswara Rao, CEO of Kalyani Motors Pvt. Ltd., were some of the dignitaries in attendance.
