Sooryavanshi falls six short of maiden India A half-century against Afghanistan A

Vaibhav Sooryavanshi fell six runs short of his maiden India A half-century against Afghanistan in the second match of the Tri-nation series at Dambulla on Thursday.

The 15-year-old got off to a flying start in typical Sooryavanshi fashion, unleashing a flurry of boundaries and taking the attack to the Afghanistan bowlers right from ball one, and looked set for his maiden India A half-century.

However, an attempt to keep the attacking intent going ultimately brought an end to his stay at the crease. Sooryavanshi, while batting on 44, was dismissed when he tried to upper cut a short delivery, only to nick the ball to the keeper.

It brought to a close a fine innings from the youngster, which has helped India A assert control early in the first innings. Sooryavanshi hit nine fours in his breezy 22-ball innings.
