Budget 5G Smartphone shipments surge over 1900% in India in 2025 According to CMR Report

The smartphone market in India is continuously growing and now the report of Cybermedia Research (CMR) has revealed that the Indian smartphone sector has entered an important phase of structural change. Now, along with the increased growth in affordable 5G phones, there has been a continuous increase in demand in the premium segment. Although total shipments declined 1 percent year-on-year, the market performed strongly as the affordable 5G segment grew significantly and demand for premium devices continued to grow. Strong demand for 5G phones
According to the report, 5G devices have been adopted rapidly. 88 percent of the total shipments were 5G smartphones, which is more than 12% compared to last year. This shows that 5G is no longer just a premium product, but has become a standard in the market. In the budget, 5G shipments in the price segment of Rs 6 thousand to Rs 8 thousand have seen a growth of more than 1900 percent on an annual basis. This has been possible due to affordable price, entry level 5G chipset and nationwide 5G network coverage.

Vivo remained at number 1
Vivo has achieved 19 percent market share in the year 2025, whereas it was 17 percent in 2024. The company has seen a growth of 10 percent year on year. Samsung has achieved 16 percent market share this year, while it had 17 percent share in 2024, due to which the company has seen a decline of 9 percent year on year. According to year-on-year growth of 13 percent, Oppo has achieved 13 percent market share in 2025, compared to 11 percent share in 2024. Xiaomi has seen a decline of 27 percent year-on-year with 13 percent share as compared to 18 percent share in 2024. Realme will have 10 percent share in 2025, whereas last year it had 11 percent share, hence a decline of 10 percent has been recorded.

Apple has achieved 9 percent market share in the premium segment with 25 percent year-on-year growth. iQOO saw 81 percent growth year-on-year, CMF saw 78 percent growth, Motorola saw 50 percent growth. Lava has registered 8 percent growth year on year. However, OnePlus has registered a decline of 32 percent year-on-year.
