A new entry for the God of War franchise has been recently confirmed. Titled God of War Laufey, the game was officially announced on June 2, 2026. It is the latest entry in the franchise after God of War Sons of Sparta, which also came out in 2026. As the title suggests, ‘Faye’ is going to be the main focus this time. However, Kratos won’t be a part of the game this time.
Apart from the official announcement of the new entry, the first look at God of War Laufey is additionally creating headlines for various reasons. Keep reading to know what is in store for the fans this time!
God of War Laufey will feature Deborah Ann Woll as ‘Faye’

While Deborah Ann Woll has built a fan base for her role as ‘Karen Page’ in the Marvel series, Daredevil, she will return as ‘Faye’ to God of War Laufey. She has previously contributed to the voice and motion capture of the character in God of War Ragnarok, which was released in 2022.

However, the upcoming instalment is not going to be a prequel, focusing on the backstory of ‘Faye.’ The central premise of God of War Laufey will take fans to Everywhen. It is an afterlife platform where gods, monsters, and other things exist together. The characters are created with inspiration from various mythologies. The new look was revealed at the State of Play presentation. ‘Faye’s’ abilities have also been introduced in the look, which aired for almost 20 minutes.

On the other hand, there is ‘Sekhmet,’ an Egyptian war goddess, alongside ‘Begtse,’ a deity. Another character that has been introduced in the first look is a cube called ‘Phranque.’ The voice for the character has been provided by actor, Jack Quaid. ‘Faye’ is also going to be accompanied by ‘Rue,’ a magical ribbon guardian. Apart from these, ‘Faye’s’ abilities will depend on speed, agility, and magic, and all of them are linked to the Greek and Norse eras of the franchise.
‘Faye’ is going to face new threats in the upcoming instalment

In the new look of God of War Laufey, ‘Faye’ can be seen attacking the enemies in a different form, where she tosses them into the sky. The confrontations are going to be new at the same time due to ‘Faye’s’ speed. ‘Faye’ is also seen easily leaving a prison with assistance from ‘Phranque.’ The character ‘Rue’ is going to have ribbons that can easily attack the enemies standing far away by extending itself.

The game will witness ‘Faye’ going on a mission to fight against the gods and save her family. Notably, the confrontation will be the result of a situation where she finds that her strategies to keep ‘Kratos’ and ‘Atreus’ safe are not working anymore. Ariel Lawrence, the director of God of War Laufey, seemingly hinted during a conversation that ‘Faye’s’ entry into an afterlife platform is associated with a question in God of War Ragnarok. Notably, ‘Odin’ was fascinated with the fact about what happens when someone dies, specifically to mortals. Ariel addressed the same and said:
“This is an answer to that question, what happens to gods when they die. Things aren’t working quite exactly the way they should be in this afterlife of the gods. Magic isn’t flowing exactly the way that it should be. So this afterlife’s not exactly a paradise. It’s a little bit more of a prison.”
