Lalit Modi reveals why he and Sushmita Sen broke up
Lalit Modi recently sat for a conversation with the Humans of Bombay podcast, in which he spoke about the various aspects of is life. In one of the segments when the host asked about his relationship with the former Miss Universe, Sushmita Sen, he heaped praises on the diva. In the conversation, Lalit also revealed the reason behind their split.
Lalit revealed that Sushmita Sen is very special to him and accepted that the two dated for some time. Revealing the reason behind the split, Lalit said:
“Sushmita was very special to me. She made me grow into a lot of things that I am today. She was extremely special. She was very much part of my life at that time and would have been (even today)… But it was just that the distance was too much for us. Her career was in India, and my life was in London.”

In the same conversation, Lalit Modi also reflected how Sushmita Sen reacted when he made their relationship official on social media. The host asked Lalit whether he expected to break the internet with the news of dating Sushmita Sen and he replied that they were on the plane and were arguing about something on the plane and he told her that he was going to post it and she thought he was just kidding. Soon Lalit posted their pictures on social media and by the time they landed in London, the news broke the headlines. Lalit revealed that Sushmita was okay about it and never asked him to take it down.
Lalit Modi slammed people who called Sushmita Sen a ‘gold digger’
During one of the segments of the interview, Lalit Modi spoke about people tagging Sushmita as a ‘gold digger’ after their pictures came out. Revealing how she has more diamonds than anyone else in the world, Lalit stated:
“Please understand that Sushmita is a very beautiful and very well-to-do lady. She has more diamonds than anybody I know on the planet, and she has earned them herself. She has diamond stores. So, she is a very wealthy lady. She has done it all on her own. There wasn’t a single time that I went out with Sushmita that I had to pay for anything. She paid for everything. I was like a kept boyfriend.”

Speaking about his love for Sushmita Sen, Lalit revealed that it was never about money. As per him, Sushmita can buy anything in the world as she is a self-made woman. He also stated that despite their breakup, he and Sushmita are ‘good friends’ and he credited her for making him a better person. He also shared that she helped him “grow into a lot of things that I am today.”
