Meet 'The Crash' Fame, Mackenzie Shirilla's Friend, Rosie Graham, Faces Heat For Over Netflix Doc

Rosie Graham was once a close friend of Mackenzie Shirilla before the fatal 2022 crash that killed the latter’s boyfriend, Dominic Russo and Davion Flanagan. The two teenagers became friends during high school, bonding over their shared interest in modelling and content creation. On July 30, 2022, the group attended a late-night gathering, where they smoked marijuana.

However, that morning when she drove Dominic and Davion home, she accelerated to nearly 100 MPH before crashing into a brick wall, killing both passengers. Three months later, Mackenzie was arrested and eventually convicted. So, as Rosie gains attention for defending Mackenzie, let’s take a look at who she is.

Who is Mackenzie Shirilla’s close friend, Rosie Graham?

Rosie Graham is a former high school student from Strongsville. While still in high school, she developed an online presence by making YouTube and TikTok videos. At the time of the 2022 crash, she had around 200,000 followers. Over the years, her followers and subscribers have grown dramatically, reaching over 900,000 on TikTok and 1 million on YouTube. While her content has evolved to better suit her audience, she has primarily focused on workout videos and sharing her workout routines and tips.

How did Rosie know Mackenzie?

Rosie in The Crash revealed that they became close friends in high school through social media. They began commenting on each other’s posts, and eventually began talking in person. Rosie revealed that Mackenzie had “always wanted to be a model” like her, so they bonded over doing photo shoots together across town. After the two of them hit it off, the girls even introduced their boyfriends to each other. She revealed that they were her best friends and that she “was just with them [the night before July 31]”. She expressed her disbelief over what happened and said, “It’s so crazy that that split second just changed all of our lives forever.”

What did Rosie say about Mackenzie Shirilla’s crash?

Nearly three years after her friends died, Rosie opened up about the crash in the documentary. She also discussed other aspects of their lives and even shared details of what had happened hours before the crash and what she had observed between Mackenzie and Dominic. Rosie revealed that “first of all, it wasn’t a party at all,” and claimed that people smoked marijuana, but nobody participated in psychedelics, such as mushrooms. Rosie also admitted that Mackenzie and Dominic did not get into an argument.

Rosie went on to share how Mackenzie and Dominic were being sweet towards each other, and the latter “petting her head all night,” “cuddling”, and “caressing her.” She also commented on the prosecutor’s allegations that Dominic wanted to break up with Mackenzie over her violent behaviour and said, “I was with them every single day, and it wasn’t daily arguments.” On the other hand, Rosie also seemed to side with Mackenzie’s account of the story, stating that the latter suffered a medical emergency and passed out while driving the car to cause the crash. She was quoted as saying:

“Mackenzie loved her life a lot, and she really liked what she had going on with Dom. I would never ever see her purposely wanting to hurt herself … Her birthday was coming up, [and] she had an expensive designer outfit ready to wear … Nothing makes sense. It really doesn’t.”

Where is Rosie Graham after her appearance in The Crash?

Ever since Rosie appeared on The Crash, she has received immense backlash. She responded to the same, including Assistant Prosecutor, Tim Troup’s allegations that Rosie was not cooperative with him and was “fascinated” that she participated in the documentary. In The Crash, Rosie shared that she told the police she was “not doing” an interview, because it seemed like they were more interested in “trying to track down the next drug dealers” than trying “to figure out what happened in the accident.” However, she later issued a clarification and stated:

“I know a lot of people have questions, so I just want to clear a few things up respectfully. Prior to the trial, I did speak with the prosecution, answered every question I was asked, and made it clear that I was willing to testify and cooperate in any way needed.”

She also denied appearing in The Crash as an attempt to gain “followers, views, or personal attention connected to such a serious situation.” She posted screenshots allegedly showing that she, Turner, and a producer had agreed not to include Rosie’s socials after she asked them to exclude the same.

“My interview lasted over eight hours, and I had no control over what portions would ultimately make the final cut. At no point was my intention to pick sides, defend anyone, or make light of the seriousness of the case. I was simply answering the questions I was asked based on my own experiences, knowledge, and what I personally witnessed. These are two examples of what I feel is the documentary pushing a narrative without providing my full explanations.”
