
Indian model and actress, Twisha Sharma’s untimely death has garnered nationwide attention. Twisha was a 33-year-old Noida-based professional who was found deceased on May 12, 2026, in her marital home in Bhopal’s Katara Hills. Her death, which was initially suspected as suicide, has triggered intense reactions and theories. Twisha’s family contested the suicide claims and alleged severe dowry harassment, physical and mental torment, and murder. Now, the case has deepened with the Supreme Court’s intervention, giving Twisha’s family a major edge.
Twisha Sharma’s family’s lawyer shared an update regarding the SC case
Late Twisha Sharma’s family consistently maintained that the investigation process of her death was not transparent and trustworthy. They pointed out the shortcomings across multiple levels of the system, including the initial police investigation, the medical examination, and local judicial proceedings. Based on that, the Supreme Court of India decided to take suo motu cognizance of the case. On May 23, 2026, the bereaved family’s lawyer, Ankur Pandey told ANI that the apex body acknowledged the family’s concerns regarding “institutional bias” and “procedural lapses.” He stated:
“So, institutional bias, whether from the judiciary, the police, or AIIMS, has been addressed. The Supreme Court has taken suo moto cognizance of all these matters, and there’s a hearing on Monday, in which Siddharth Luthra is appearing. We hope that whatever guidelines are issued after this, the investigation will be fair.”

The allegations by Twisha Sharma’s family stem from the professional backgrounds of the deceased’s in-laws in Bhopal. Her mother-in-law, Giribala Singh is a retired judge, and her husband, Samarth Singh is a practising criminal lawyer. Thus, Twisha’s family feared that the Singh family would influence the case. Now, with the Supreme Court siding with Twisha’s family on the likelihood of the same, the case seems to be moving in their direction. Prosecution advocate, Ankur Pandey was quoted by ANI as:
“Furthermore, they also mentioned procedural lapses. That procedural lapse relates to the granting of bail, whether by AIIMS or the police administration. The Supreme Court has taken suo motu cognizance of all these matters, and after a proper discussion, a proper decision based on the merits, and appropriate action will be taken against them.”

Twisha Sharma’s uncle felt that they were edging closer towards receiving justice
Lokesh Sharma, the uncle of deceased actress and model, Twisha Sharma felt that the family was edging closer to justice following two breakthrough legal developments. They were the state government recommended a Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) probe, and the Supreme Court took suo motu cognizance of the case by acknowledging their allegations of institutional bias and procedural lapses. Lokesh Sharma told ANI:
“We wholeheartedly welcome the decision by the Supreme Court. We feel the deceased will definitely get justice now. The cremation will be carried out with complete rituals.”

Twisha Sharma, a 33-year-old former Miss Pune contestant and Noida resident, was found dead on May 12, 2026, in her matrimonial home in the Katara Hills area of Bhopal. The tragic incident took place just five months after her marriage. A preliminary post-mortem report from AIIMS Bhopal indicated that she died of hanging. However, her family alleges murder as her final messages to her mother indicated unbearable mental torture by her in-laws. Police filed an FIR for dowry harassment and abetment of suicide against the Singhs, following which Samarth was on the run. After 10 days of disappearance, he surrendered or was caught, and the Bhopal police sought a seven-day remand of the accused.
