Off-Campus has been leaving people in utter awe. The series from Prime Video left the fans gasping for breath. The series is based on the first book of Elle Kennedy’s book series, The Deal.
The series has been all over social media and people’s hearts. Be it the chemistry between hockey captain ‘Garrett Graham’ and aspiring musician ‘Hannah Wells’, or the bond between ‘Allie Hayes’ and ‘Dean Di Laurentis’, the series actually has set a new standard. ‘Allie Hayes’ and ‘Dean Di Laurentis’s bond was one of the much-loved factors of the series. However, did you know that the duo was not close to each other during the shooting of Off-Campus?
Real-life ‘Dean’ was scared of ‘Allie’? And they were not that close to each other
‘Allie Hayes’s role was played by Mika Abdalla, while Stephen Kalyn played the role of ‘Dean Di Laurentis’ in the series. While the tension had been all over the roofs between Mike and Stephen, speaking about their bond, in an interview with PEOPLE, Mika shared that they were not quite close during the early days of production. She mentioned that they initially did som Zooms with Stephen, but when she flew off to the set, they were not that much close in the beginning. She stated that she knows she’ll be hated by Stephen for revealing the fact that he was scared of her. Mika’s exact words were:
“I’m sure Stephen will hate that I say this, but I’m exposing him. He was scared of me when we met — super afraid of me. I have a pretty bad resting bitch face sometimes, and I don’t think that little sweet boy from Toronto is, like, equipped to deal with that.”

In the same interview, Mika Abdalla revealed how she got to know about Stephen being scared of her. She mentioned that she once confronted him by saying that they needed to get along well with each other, so that their chemistry would be shown on-screen. To this, Stephen revealed that he was scared of her and always thought that she hated him.
After that, Mika told Stephen that she doesn’t hate him at all, and it’s just her resting face that gave her the wrong idea. After the confrontation took place, things were easier, and they got along well with each other and became each other’s best friends. She also added that Stephen is someone who’s really vulnerable, and he’s like her brother. She could be quoted as saying:
“And then he told me, point-blank, ‘I’m afraid of you.’ He was like, ‘I feel like you hate me.’ And I was like, ‘No, no, no, no, that’s just my face.’ And then we literally were besties after that. It was literally that easy. He’s so big, but he’s so scared. He’s so vulnerable,” she adds of Kalyn. “Our relationship has been extremely interesting, but now he’s like my brother. We’re very close.”

‘Allie Hayes’ is one of the main characters of the series Off-Campus. For the unversed, ‘Allie’ is one of the major roles of Elle Kennedy’s book series, Off-Campus’s third instalment, The Score, wherein her love story with ‘Dean’ was unfolded. ‘Allie’ in the series has been seen as an aspiring actress who is confident enough. In her personal life, she was stuck in her long-term relationship but wanted to break free. She was BFF to ‘Hannah’, who wanted to be a singer. ‘Allie’ advised her BFF, ‘Hannah’, to take risks and explore what’s out there that college has to offer, something that she also wanted to do.
All said and done, she met ‘Dean Di Laurentis’, a hockey star at the college. They hooked up. As of the book by Ella Kennedy, single ‘Dean Di Laurentis’ then eventually wanted to find out something real. However, soon things changed as he fell into the spirals caused by his ex-girlfriend and the death of his best friend. He left hockey and broke up with ‘Allie’. Later, he found solace in coaching, and also reconciled with ‘Allie’, who was hesitant at first but eventually got married to him.
