Famous Australian pop singer, songwriter, and actress, Kylie Minogue, is all over the news due to her recent Netflix three-episode documentary series, KYLIE. During the documentary, she also talked about her life journey and affairs she still holds close, one of which was her relationship with Michael Hutchence, the former lead singer of INXS.

One of the most important parts of her life story was her relationship with ex-boyfriend, Michael Hutchence, who died by suicide years later. She cried while talking about her ex-beau and recalled how she still felt his presence in her life, years after his death. For the unversed, Kylie was just 21 years old when she first met INXS star, Michael in 1988. At the time, Michael was touring for his album, Kick. At that time, Kylie was dating Jason Donovan, who had secured VIP tickets for Michael’s concert, and it became the point of their breakup.
After Kylie and Jason were invited backstage after the concert, the former found an instant connection with Michael. In his autobiography, Between The Lines, Jason revealed that he noticed Kylie and Michael that night, who kept whispering in her hair and she kept laughing. Jason wrote:
“I wasn’t the only one to notice the buzz between Kylie and Michael that night. I’d noticed him staring at her when we met backstage. He kept whispering in her hair and she kept laughing.”
After breaking up with her then-boyfriend, Jason, in 1981, Kylie started her relationship with Michael just months after. The two were together for three years. Kylie, in her documentary, claimed that her relationship with Michael was the most profound. She revealed that they were good together, and she kept looking for the same love. She said:
“We were good together. You go on and live your lives but it was definitely an amazing point in time and I have probably been looking for something like that ever since, and I haven’t got it.”

Despite sharing the most beautiful love of their life, Kylie and Michael broke up, but not many knew the reason behind it. However, after many years, Kylie revealed that her busy work schedules and her personal battles played a part in their separation. In a 2019 documentary, Mystify: Michael Hutchence, Kylie talked about her relationship with Michael, which was doomed. She shared that she doesn’t know why they broke up, maybe it was due to work or might be due to the drugs, but one thing was certain: Michael was like a woman. For the unversed, Michael had suffered addiction issues as family and friends noticed he experienced depression and mental issues. She said:
“Was it work? Was it drugs? I don’t know. He was like a broken man.”

Kylie revealed that it was extremely hard to get hold of Michael as he was Michael was touring all over the world, so it was really hard to see each other. She would often share video messages, and it became more and more difficult. She said:
