Computer sales in India declined 2.2 percent in second quarter of 2016: IDC

A total of 21.4 lakh personal computers were sold in the second quarter of the financial year 2016-17, which is 7.2 percent more on a quarterly basis, while it is 2.2 percent less as compared to the second quarter of the financial year 2015-16. At the same time, the highest sales were of HP computers.

Market research company International Data Corporation (IDC) gave this information on Wednesday. It was told that HP’s share in the Indian PC market was 28.4 percent.

At the same time, 10.5 lakh personal computers were sold in the second quarter of the financial year 2016-17, which is 14.5 percent more on an annual basis.

“India overall shipped a record 10.9 lakh computers, up 1.1 per cent quarter-on-quarter,” said Manish Yadav, senior market analyst (client devices), IDC India.

In the PC market, Dell stood second with a market share of 22.2 percent, while Lenovo stood third with a market share of 16.1 percent.
