Chennai Super Kings’ IPL 2026 playoff hopes suffered a dent after it suffered a seven-wicket defeat against Lucknow Super Giants at the Ekana Stadium on May 15.
Ruturaj Gaikwad’s side now has 12 points from 12 matches, having won six and lost six thus far. It is sixth in the table, trailing Rajasthan Royals on Net Run Rate.
However, CSK can still qualify for the playoffs if it wins both of its remaining matches. Two more wins in its final two outings against Gujarat Titans and Sunrisers Hyderabad will take it to 16 points, which could still be enough to take it through.
However, it will likely still need to rely on other teams’ results in order to secure its spot in the final four.
