There seems to be no end in sight right now for the Mike Vrabel and Dianna Russini saga as they continue to be hit with new claims. Latest reports of the controversy suggest that there have been discussions of a possible NDA involving the former The Athletic reporter. Amid this, during his recent appearance on WEEI, legal expert, Mike McCann weighed in on the issue, explaining how the arrangement would legally function if it really happened.
Mike McCann explains why Mike Vrabel may end up paying Dianna Russini
From the very start of the Dianna Russini and Mike Vrabel alleged affair controversy last month, in April 2026, the New England Patriots have reportedly maintained a firm internal stance, showing no signs of firing Mike as head coach. Dianna, on the other hand, had resigned from her job as an insider at The Athletic. Many are looking forward to seeing what move she makes next. For those unaware, after initial reports claimed that Dianna might finally be telling her side of the story in the scandal, rumours surfaced that she might be signing an NDA. Regarding the same, legal expert, Mike McCann said:
“That would be a non-disclosure agreement; it can be enforceable. She is an adult. If she signs some sort of agreement saying that I will not disclose other materials about you, whatever they did, that’s a contract.”

During his appearance on WEEI, Mike McCann went on to question why the Patriots organisation would allegedly be connected to any agreement. This is because, according to him, the whole matter revolves around Mike Vrabel personally, rather than the organisation. He said:
“Why are the Patriots paying for it? Why wouldn’t it be Vrabel? He is the one at the issue.”

Dianna Russini’s potential NDA rumours raise questions
If the reports are believed to be true, the alleged NDA involving Dianna Russini will seek to prevent future fallout from the controversy. While NDAs are a common occurrence when it comes to stuff like workplace disputes and celebrity controversies, legal experts have often questioned whether the outside leaks tied to the story can realistically be stopped or not. Taking into account the old photos and videos involving Dianna Russini and Mike Vrabel, McCann revealed that the third-party material would actually remain outside of any legal arrangement. He explained:
“I don’t know if it’s also a good idea, I mean, in a way, some of these disclosures aren’t even from them. How about that photo from six years ago at a bar, you can’t buy silence of the world. So there’s other people that have stuff that wouldn’t be covered by the agreement.”

According to McCann, if such a deal or NDA were ever finalised, Dianna Russini could totally ask for a massive payout from Mike Vrabel. This is especially the case when we consider that she had to step away from her role at The Athletic after the constant public backlash and attention that the controversy brought.

Dianna Russini’s first public appearance with her husband amid the scandal
NFL fans might already be aware that Mike Vrabel has continued to appear in his role as the New England Patriots head coach. Meanwhile, since his and Dianna Russini’s alleged affair controversy has erupted into a nationwide story, the latter has chosen to remain largely out of the spotlight. However, that recently changed a few days ago, as Dianna was photographed alongside her husband, Kevin Goldschmidt, in public, outside their home over Mother’s Day weekend. In the photos, the couple were seen kissing while Dianna carried one of her children in her arms. Coming to their status as a married couple, a source recently revealed to Page Six, “People in the community have said they’ve been very resilient as a family.”
