Schlotzsky’s Deli has
tapped the internet’s self-proclaimed “King of Sandwiches” to promote its latest menu additions.
The sandwich seller has partnered with influencer, author and self-taught recipe
creator Owen Han, whose viral ASMR-style videos explore the makings of a great sandwich. Boasting almost nine million followers across multiple social platforms, Han is also the author of
“Stacked: The Art of the Perfect Sandwich,” which explores gourmet “two-fisted” sandwich making.
The partnership promotes the chain’s new Stacked Subs
lineup, which includes a Turkey Avocado BLT, Honey Mustard Club and Zesty Italian, which are all served on Artisan White or Harvest Wheat sub rolls.
“’Lotz’ isn’t just a
tagline — it’s our promise,” said Donna Varner, chief brand officer, Schlotzsky’s Deli, in a press release, referring to the brand’s “Life Needs Lotz” tag. “As we’ve
heard the growing consumer frustration around shrinking portions and corner-cutting, the launch of Stacked Subs reinforces what we’ve always been about: generous portions, hearty flavors and
sandwiches that truly satisfy.”

Han stars in online ads, such as seen here, where he sits in front of a “stack” of the
new Stacked Subs and proceeds to “review” the sandwiches as he does for his own channels. For the Turkey Avocado BLT, he comments “Harvest Wheat works perfectly with this, big chunks
of avocado, delicious.”
Schlotzsky’s Deli began in Austin in 1971 and now operates 280 restaurants across the country, with the highest concentration in Texas (about 175 locations). A
Go-To Foods company, the brand, which originated as “Schlotzsky’s,” recently added “Deli” to its name (after stints as Schlotzsky’s Bakery-Café and
Schlotzsky’s Austin Eatery) to better reflect its offerings.
