For those unaware, the longtime president and co-founder of Daystar TV network died after dealing with multiple health conditions. Meanwhile, Doug spoke candidly about his loss.
Doug Weiss opens up about his wife, Joni Lamb’s demise
Doug Weiss, who got married to Joni Lamb in 2023, recently shared a heartbreaking message on Facebook after her death. He emotionally mentioned how he fell short of words to express his grief at a painful time. He went on to describe Joni as “deeply loved” and expressed his gratitude to those who prayed for and showed kindness to Joni. Doug also requested continued prayers for their family as they dealt with the painful loss in his first public statement after Daystar confirmed Joni’s death. In his words:
“Today, I lost my wife, Joni. There are no words that really capture the weight of that sentence or the grief that comes with it. She was deeply loved, and the space she leaves behind is impossible to put into words. I know many people loved her and will want to reach out, and I’m incredibly grateful for the prayers, support, and kindness already being shown.”
According to Daystar’s official statement, Joni had been privately dealing with some serious health issues for some time. However, a recent back injury worsened the condition. The network mentioned that the injury “compounded” her existing health struggles into a more difficult situation. Despite adequate medical treatment and prayers, her health declined rapidly in her final days. Although the ministry has not released an exact cause of Joni’s demise, they mentioned her condition became critical after the injury.
Joni Lamb and Doug Weiss’ love story
Joni Lamb and Doug Weiss’ love story started after the death of her first husband, Marcus Lamb. The latter passed away in 2021. According to previous interviews and Daystar broadcasts, Joni shared that Marcus had encouraged her and their children to move forward in life and find happiness again. In turn, Doug, who was a guest and contributor to Daystar programming, gradually became a significant supporter for Joni during her grief over Marcus’ death.
Soon their friendship turned into a relationship, and they got married in June 2023. Together, they became co-hosts for Daystar’s Ministry Now. But some people even criticized her for remarrying shortly after Marcus’ death, yet the couple did not react to it.

After his marriage to Joni Lamb, Doug became a regular face on Daystar. He also played a significant role in ministry programming. Meanwhile, Joni is also survived by three children, Jonathan, Rachel, Rebecca, and several grandchildren.
