Joni Lamb married Doug Weiss in 2023. They got married two years after the death of her first husband, Marcus Lamb. Doug is a well-known Christian psychologist, author, and speaker. Eventually, he became a significant part of Joni’s life in her final years. Their relationship became public through Christian broadcasting, where Doug often appeared with Joni on Ministry shows. In her anniversary posts, she used to address him as her “rock”. At the same time, she used to express her gratitude to him for being the source of her joy and peace during a painful period following Marcus’ death.

According to Daystar and Joni’s social media posts, she shared a strong faith-centered bond with Doug. On the other hand, he is popular in Christian counseling circles. His work also focuses on addiction recovery and relationship healing. He founded Heart to Heart Connection Center in Colorado Springs. Before Doug, Joni had a four-decade-long marriage with Marcus Lamb. They got married in 1982. Together, they built Daystar from scratch. They launched it in 1993 that eventually became one of the world’s biggest Christian television networks. Marcus and Joni soon became among the most popular faces in Christian media.

They co-hosted shows and expanded Daystar across the world. However, they also faced several public challenges to their marriage. One of them was Marcus admitting to an affair in 2010. Eventually, he died in 2021 due to COVID-19. The couple shares three kids, Jonathan, Rachel, and Rebecca, who all work in closely related fields to Daystar.

What caused Joni Lamb’s death?
Daystar confirmed Joni Lamb’s death on May 7, 2026. According to their official statement, she has been dealing with serious health issues for some time now. Yet, a recent back injury made her condition worse. However, the statement did not reveal the exact medical cause of her death. Instead, it stated that the injury “compounded” her ongoing health issues.

Despite all the treatment and prayers, her health continued to decline. In turn, the network described her death as “going home to be with the Lord.” Meanwhile, she is survived by Doug and her three children and their kids. The network stated:
“The back injury compounded those challenges and led to a more serious medical situation than anyone anticipated. Despite the dedicated efforts of her medical team and the prayers of so many around the world, her condition worsened in the last few days.”
