PC Market in India Surges 3 Percent in Q2, HP Maintains First Rank, Dell, Lenovo, Acer

The personal computer (PC) market in the country has grown by three percent in the second quarter of this year. Nearly 35 lakh units of PC were shipped in the second quarter. Most of the companies in this market have shipped more units as compared to the first quarter. However, the commercial PC segment declined by 3.9 percent in the second quarter.

However, the growth in the workstation category is about 37 percent. This is indicating strong demand in this segment. HP has secured the first position in the PC market with 30.8 percent share. HP’s performance in the commercial segment has been strong. This is due to strong enterprise demand, especially from the IT/ITES sector. However, the company’s shipments in the consumer segment have declined by about 16.8 percent on a year-on-year basis. HP’s strategy includes reducing inventory, strengthening distribution channels and preparing for the upcoming sales season. in this market Lenovo has the second position with about 20.3 percent share. In the consumer segment, Lenovo has achieved a growth of 9.8 percent on year-on-year basis. The increasing popularity of its gaming laptops is a major reason for this. Apart from this, this company has also received strong demand in the e-commerce segment.

Acer (14.8 percent) has got the third position in this market. It is followed by Dell (11.3 percent) and Asus (7.7 percent). Demand for PC from companies is increasing. Shipments of premium laptops have increased by 6.9 percent on year-on-year basis. In the first half of this year, the demand for laptops with Artificial Intelligence (AI) features has increased by 145.2 percent. It has been said in this report that the PC market is increasing due to strong enterprise demand.
